Vertex Standard launches Two-Way Radio Solutions Portfolio in East Africa
Vertex Standard, a leading Japanese maker of two-way radios and communications solutions, has announced its expansion plans in East and Central Africa with the introduction of radio solutions portfolio designed specifically for use in the commercial and industrial sectors.
The company, which has partnered with New Edge Solutions Ltd, an African company located in Kenya, will be introducing its new and exciting product portfolio in Nairobi for the very first time.

As the official appointed Partner for Vertex Standard in the East Africa region, New Edge Solutions provides support and regular training to accredited Vertex Standard Two Way Radio Dealers. New Edge Solutions is the conduit between Vertex Standard and the local dealers and clients and therefore support and service is the key benefit provided to dealers.

Vertex Standard’s portfolio is focused on advanced technology and value-added solutions with customization options for customers needing commercial radios, and accessories.
Products offered include VX-1400 HF mobile radio, VX-231 and VX-350 series portable radios, and VX-2100/2200 mobile radios.
The new VX-1400 HF mobile radio, which supports both mobile and base-station operations, is now available to all African regions. Vertex Standard designed this radio to address customer needs for a smaller, rugged mobile HF radio solution that can meet the demands for remote operations and the tourism industry. “We understand that customers using HF radios need strong coverage and quality audio to best support their remote communications requirements and the VX-1400 delivers this capability in an updated design with more features offered at a competitive price,” said De-Carte.
Vertex Standard also introduced to local dealers new radios for 2011 including VX-450 Series portable radios, VX-4500/4600 mobile radios and the VXD Series of digital mobile radios (DMR), to be available in Q2.
• The VX-450 series is designed to ensure worker safety, is built for extreme conditions, features 700 mW loud audio output ideal for noisy work environments, and has built-in selective signaling modes. The VX-459 and VX-454 radios ensures that large group communications are easy to manage with massive 512-channel capacity and 32 groups to enable a variety of calls at the most complex job site or plant operation.
• The VX-4500/4600 mobile radios offer eight channels and 512 channels respectively for small and large communication needs. The radios include 2-tone and 5-tone encode/decode and MDC-1200®encode/decode along with voice inversion encryption built-in for enhanced user convenience
• The VXD digital radio series is based on two-slot Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) 6.25 kHz efficient digital technology. By offering radios with this technology, users will have more digital radio choices on the TDMA digital mobile radio protocol – the most widely used option in the world. The radios operate in analog or digital mode allowing users to convert their two-way communications equipment one radio at a time, one channel at a time or the entire system based on their functional and fiscal needs.
